Summer is always forcing us to be a little more creative with our refreshments. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t like lounging in the garden sipping a delicious and fruity iced tea?
Yeah, unfortunately we are not all so lucky to have a garden to lounge in, but that doesn’t mean we cannot drink that iced tea wherever we may roam? 😀
Now, there are many ways out there of making iced tea, but this method, though it takes some time to be ready, it’s totally worth the wait.
Making the Iced Tea
In the evening prepare your ingredients. This whole process takes about 10 minutes total and in the morning you’re savouring the freshly made iced tea.
You can also do this in the morning if you want to serve it in the same day, afternoon or evening. It needs about 6-8 hours to be ready.
- Take out a nice, tall pitcher.
- Prepare the ingredients: two tea bags, one peach, one lemon, 3-4 tbsp sugar, a handful mint, tap water.
- Add the tea, mint, and the chopped fruit into the pitcher.
- Squeeze the juice of a lemon over them.
- Add the sugar and fill the pitcher with water to the brim.
There are two ways of proceeding.
The overnight method.
You can do this in the evening and leave the pitcher in the fridge overnight and savour the iced tea in the morning.
The same day method.
Mix all the ingredients in the morning and leave the pitcher at room temperature until the afternoon. Place it in the fridge until it is ready to be served or just top up the glasses with ice and serve as it is.
You can also skip the sugar or replace it with other sweetner of your choice.
Also, in this recipe I used green tea but you can use whichever tea you have lying around. For about 1L iced tea, you can use 2-3 tea bags.
